چکیده

The texture evolution accompanied by grain growth was investigated in a nanocrystalline Fe-78wt%Ni alloy, namely permalloy fabricated by using an electrodeposition method. The as-deposited specimen revealed a strong <100>//ND and a weak <111>//ND fibre-type textures. Grain growth took place during annealing beyond 370°C and resulted in the texture change such that the <111>//ND fibre strongly developed at the expense of the <100>//ND fibre. It was observed using orientation image microscopy (OIM) that the <111>//ND oriented grains abnormally grew in the early stages of grain growth. The relationship between the texture evolution and the microstructural change during annealing is interpreted and discussed in terms of the orientation dependency of grain growth

Synthesis and thermal stability of nanocrystalline Mg-6Al-1Zn-1Si alloy prepared via mechanical alloying

Thermal stability and the kinetics of the grain growth of nano-crystalline Mg-6Al-1Zn-1Si alloy prepared via mechanical alloying (MA) were investigated. It started with elemental powders, using a variety of analytical techniques including differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction method (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with energy dispersive spectrometry (E...

Revealing Grain Boundary Sliding from Textures of a Deformed Nanocrystalline Pd–Au Alloy

Employing a recent modeling scheme for grain boundary sliding [Zhao et al. Adv. Eng. Mater.2017, doi:10.1002/adem.201700212], crystallographic textures were simulated for nanocrystalline fcc metals deformed in shear compression. It is shown that, as grain boundary sliding increases, the texture strength decreases while the signature of the texture type remains the same. Grain boundary sliding a...

Thermodynamic properties of nano-silver and alloy particles

In this chapter, the analytical embedded atom method and calculating Gibbs free energy method are introduced briefly. Combining these methods with molecular dynamic and Monte Carlo techniques, thermodynamics of nano-silver and alloy particles have been studied systematically. For silver nanoparticles, calculations for melting temperature, molar heat of fusion, molar entropy of fusion, and tempe...

Disruption of thermally-stable nanoscale grain structures by strain localization.

Nanocrystalline metals with average grain sizes of only a few nanometers have recently been observed to fail through the formation of shear bands. Here, we investigate this phenomenon in nanocrystalline Ni which has had its grain structure stabilized by doping with W, with a specific focus on understanding how strain localization drives evolution of the nanoscale grain structure. Shear banding ...

Finite Element Modeling of Strain Rate and Grain Size Dependency in Nanocrystalline Materials

Nanocrystalline materials show a higher strain-rate sensitivity in contrast to the conventional coarse-grained materials and a different grain size dependency. To explain these phenomenon, a finite element model is constructed that considers both grain interior and grain boundary deformation of nanocrystalline materials. The model consist of several crystalline cores with different orientations...
